Curiosity made us great, but it's waning in the West
Article Abstract:
The rise of dumbing down in western universities combined with the the decline of the intellectual quest will make the next century one dominated by the East, with the dominance of Europe and North America being lost by the end of the 21st century, instead being taken up by India, China, Japan and Southeast Asia. A number of reasons for this shift in power are given, including economic ones, but the primary reason given is that the desire to learn is waning in the West, while in the East it is as strong as ever and even growing.
