Debt dampens the spirit of protest
Article Abstract:
Some observers point out the National Union of Students is not supported by a number of students because it is seen as unimportant. Students failed to protest in large numbers when the UK government introduced tuition fees. Some students suggested they were more demanding about the quality of their university courses since the introduction of fees. Others pointed out their choice of course was directly related to increasing their chances of getting work after university, in order to pay their debts. Some students admitted they would work harder because their parents had paid their fees.
