Disgraced researcher rebuilds career in US
Article Abstract:
Tor Savidge, a scientist fired from the prestigious Babraham Institute at Cambridge over fraudulent research, is working successfully as an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts, in the field of children's medicine, it has been discovered. Savidge had been found to have used false data in part of his presentation of research findings at a 1997 meeting of the Keystone Symposia, a Colorado-based international academic network for the biomedical and life sciences, and was subsequently dismissed from Babraham after a disciplinary investigation. Savidge states that all parties involved in his subsequent employment have been made fully aware of the events at Babraham.

President to stand down after fees probe
Article Abstract:
Gillian Payne, president of higher education charities Regent's College and the European Business School, has been asked to stand down from her position following an investigation by The Times Higher Education Supplement which highlighted concerns about payments totaling millions of pounds made to her companies by the two institutions. The trustees of the two charities stated that they believe now to be an appropriate time for Payne to end her association with the institutions.

Examiner axed in copying row
Article Abstract:
Leeds University has replaced Anita Prazmowska, external examiner and professor of international history at London School of Economics, after she highlighted extensive copying in a PhD thesis and insisted that it be failed. Leeds University said the decision to replace Professor Prazmowska was in accordance with its procedures and was intended to ensure that the work by the student was judged solely on academic merits.
