The professor of political studies at the University of Botswana describes his experiences of being declared a prohibited immigrant in Botswana and being ejected from the country after being declared a "threat to national security" by the country's president, Festus Mogae. The autocratic nature of the political system in Botswana is criticised.

Article Abstract:
An analysis of the concept of democracy as it is practiced in Botswana. It is argued that, despite support from countries such as the UK and the US, the system in Botswana is far from democratic, that it is, in fact, autocratic with mismanagement of government rife and criticism of the regime quashed or ignored.
