'Essays are the students' revenge. They follow the inexorable logic of a Greek tragedy. You bore them and they bore you. En masse--page upon page'
Article Abstract:
The principal lecturer in English at De Montfort University argues that the quality of essays faced by lecturers is enough to drive them to suicide and that essays are the students' revenge on the lecturer.
