'Ethical' degrees get cool response
Article Abstract:
Academics in the UK have given a mixed welcome to proposals put forward by the Council for Higher Education and Industry for the study of ethics and morality to be embedded in student courses. While academics acknowledged that the teaching of ethics and morality is much needed, they questioned whether the time is available under the current system to do the issues justice and whether the funding such courses would require would be made available.

How to avoid falling into the parent trap
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the relationship between universities and the parents of students and some advice for how to deal with parental inquiries. It is suggested that modern parents exert far more pressure on their children - the students - and on the universities as they perceive themselves as customers paying for a service and they like to check up on the quality of service they are getting.
