Europe's quality wave
Article Abstract:
The controversy which has surrounded the trend towards universities focusing on new management approaches and accountability in the UK has also characterised academic life in many other European countries. In many cases, this has been prompted by the European Commission's decision to launch a pilot scheme on quality assessment. It is now becoming widely accepted that the key to successful quality assurance is gaining the support of those who are directly involved in delivering higher education.

Article Abstract:
An analysis of the level of academic corruption around the world and how this undermines the whole of higher education. It is estimated that in Russia between US$2 bil/yr to US$5 bil/yr is spent on academic bribes, while in Nigeria 7,254 graduates were stripped of their degrees as part of an investigation into fraud.
