Everyone's a winner
Article Abstract:
The director of the Wellcome Trust argues that the open-access model for the publication of scientific research, under which research would be made available online at no charge, will cut costs while maintaining quality. It is contended that, through public funding there is a viable, sustainable model for the distribution of research results via the Internet and that if the open-access model is adopted, then researchers and society at large will benefit.

You call yourself an intellectual?
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the differences between an academic and an intellectual. It is argued that the big difference between an academic and an intellectual is that an intellectual actually cares about ideas and how to deal with them effectively whereas academics tend to be more interested in the politics of their work.
