Ex-MP Gould in NZ house attack
Article Abstract:
The Waikato University and former Labour member of parliament, Professor Bryan Gould, have been accused of misusing university funds for the renovation of the property which houses Gould and his family. Gould suspects that these criticisms have been delivered by students as an ulterior political attack against his tertiary education funding policy, and is determined to continue with his work at the university. The renovation work is costing approximately 35,000 pounds sterling, and represents five years maintenance work.

New Zealand suffers funding cuts
Article Abstract:
The New Zealand government has increased funding to allow expansion of student numbers in higher education. To pay for the increase cuts have been made to budgets for those at college now, and colleges are expected to be more efficient to make up the shortfall. Students taking arts, social science and other courses will be particularly affected as the government has cut funding for these subjects. Both academics and students are outraged at the cuts.
