Picture this: a way of learning that brings down traditional barriers of place and time
Article Abstract:
A number of staff working in higher education have been calling for the introduction of videoconferencing in education and training. The technology is far more dependable and there are a variety of companies making the equipment. Some observers suggest the investment into videoconferencing will help reduce the cost of training. It will allow all students access to good quality and up to date information and training, particularly if they have a problem with travelling long distances. It will also reduce time and money spent on travelling to other locations.

Able minds incarcerated by traditional attitudes
Article Abstract:
Attitudes toward disability have changed since the 1970s and there is more emphasis on how society perceives disability than in the 1970s. Many problems of disabled people result from social attitudes. An increasing amount of work on disability is written by disabled people themselves, and they have become a political force in the United Kingdom. Changes in attitudes in the US were promoted by disabled Vietnam veterans, while the Open University has been influential in changing attitudes in the UK.
