First left, second right then U-turn
Article Abstract:
All political sides claim George Orwell as the voice of their truth, an ironic state of affairs given that Orwell opposed those who did not accord with his own frequent changes of opinion. It is argued that Orwell can be claimed as their own by so many disparate groups because he was a man made up of contradictions, but because of these contradictions, far from upholding the spirit of dissent people have used both Orwell the author and Orwell the image to contain, label and rule dissent out of order.
