GM debate cut down by threats and abuse
Article Abstract:
Increasingly vicious protests are driving plant scientists involved in the uses of genetic modification (GM) out of the United Kingdom, with many questioning whether it is possible to continue to engage in the GM debate in the UK at all. Tony Trewavas, professor of applied biochemistry at the University of Edinburgh, claims that the intimidation by anti-GM lobbyists was beginning to mirror that of animal rights activists and has urged the government to intervene to protect researchers.
