How to parent a student

It is anticipated students graduating from UK universities will have built up debts of up to 13,000 pounds sterling, which could take them several years to repay. Strathclyde University, Scotland, are holding meetings for students and parents, on the probable costs which will be incurred during their time at university. Some children clearly underestimated the cost of food. Strathclyde staff also pointed out course books and materials can be expensive. They encouraged the parents to continue to make representations to the UK government concerning the high cost of university education.

Aberdeen's rude awakening
Article Abstract:
The University of Aberdeen celebrates its 500th anniversary in 1995. To mark the occasion a series of special graduation ceremonies are to be held throughout the year, along with a host of receptions and reunions. Among those to be awarded honorary degrees are Cardinal Pio Laghi, Prince Charles, Boutros Boutros Ghali, Jessye Norman, and Muriel Spark. A tartan has been made especially for the occasion, along with a 20-year malt, and various musical works.
