Spin-off numbers inflated

Universities in the UK are significantly exaggerating the number of spin-off companies they are generating, according to a survey of enterprise activity in higher education carried out by Library House (Cambridge, UK). The report revealed that university technology-transfer offices were overestimating the number of spin-off companies generated by nearly 50%.

Games offer research gold
Article Abstract:
Growth in university jobs and research in the United Kingdom is being predicted as a result of the successful bid to bring the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics to the UK. The growth is expected to come as universities prepare for increased interest in Olympics-related subjects, such as sports science, hospitality, urban regeneration and cultural studies.
