Jag man sees the green light
Article Abstract:
Experts describe James Randle, former chief engineer of Jaguar Cars Ltd., as an engineer with vision. He worked for Jaguar for 26 years until 1991, and his teams designed cars which were smooth running and sensually appealing. Randle describes engineering as an art form, and is contemptuous of the heavy reliance placed on computer-aided design in modern car engineering, believing it to generate standard, functional forms. Randle now heads Birmingham University's automotive engineering centre. His commercial projects are based on his research into environmentally-friendly engineering.

An Almighty challenge
Article Abstract:
Rector of the Royal College of Art Christopher Frayling is in charge of designing the Spirit Zone exhibit for the UK's Millennium Dome. The dome itself continues to attract controversy, but defining the concept for the Spirit Zone is a complex and delicate task involving input from a range of groups. The current concept examines life as a journey and focuses on the ways in which differing traditions mark points along that journey. There will also be an opportunity for meditation and possibly for visitors to leave some sort of mark.
