Scots myth and the will to believe
Article Abstract:
The relationship between Scotland and the rest of the UK is again being examined in advance of the UK general election in Apr 1992 and polls indicate support for independence in Scotland. Many factors have affected this, including a long period of unpopular Conservative government, a general revival of nationalism in Europe, the end of the cold war and greater European integration. It is thought that, more important than any of these, is the rebirth of the Scottish national identity. Scottish self-confidence seems to have grown a great deal of late.

Northwest rises to the challenge
Article Abstract:
Eight universities in the Northwest of England are drawing up a regional wealth-creation strategy in which universities will play a central role. A fundamental aim of this programme is to allow the universities to teach and encourage entrepreneurship. It is hoped that each university in the region will have access to a business incubator, with each student being brought into contact with enterprise at undergraduate level. The four Greater Manchester universities plan to establish a centre where students can gain entrepreneurship skills.
