Last taste of forbidden fruits on the hard road to markets
Article Abstract:
The collapse of communism has meant western armies and providers of military equipment have experienced severe cutbacks and this peace dividend may well be reflected in the demand for experts on communist societies. The fields of communist studies and international relations have seen a crisis, the first response being to identify new states as post-communist societies. There will still need to be a study made of these states and their differences to the advanced western capitalist countries. Communism will continue to remain a counter-ideology, while inequality exists anywhere in the world.

A taste for this and that
Article Abstract:
Edinburgh has long thought itself the cultural capital of Scotland, even before its famous festival began in 1947. The city includes two distinct areas, the old town and the classically designed New Town, and residents prefer them to the housing estates on the city outskirts. Many famous figures hail from Edinburgh, including Muriel Spark who set her novel 'The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie' there. Hugh McDiarmid, one of Scotland's great poets lived there, and Dylan Thomas spent his childhood there. Sean Connery was once an Edinburgh milkman.
