Lincoln v-c has 2020 vision of a great city
Article Abstract:
David Chiddick, a former town planner and current vice-chancellor of Lincoln University, has, as a result of concerns that the Lincolnshire region faces economic isolation and decline, developed a vision for how the region could look in 2020 with the aim of realising Lincoln's potential as "one of the world's great small cities". Some of the objectives of Chiddick's vision include addressing the problems of the region's failing agricultural businesses, making Lincoln a world leader in the new media and getting the city's cathedral quarter designated a World Heritage site in 2010.

Chief needler at the sharp end of learning
Article Abstract:
Paul Ramsden, the head of the newly formed Higher Education Academy, argues that universities and academics should not treat fee-paying students simply as customers, rather they should let the students buy into "learning partnerships". Ramsden notes that just treating students as customers is not actually very good for learning and that the students need to be more involved in the process.
