Link-ups aim to cheer up the maze of confusion
Article Abstract:
Oxford Brookes University, England, has reformed its student support system. The system is under threat in universities throughout the United Kingdom due to the increase in student numbers, which means that personal tutors have more students assigned to them. Student link coordinators help new students and pass on serious problems to staff. The student intake has changed in character as the proportion of mature students has increased, with more demands on their time. Students also have a performance review from staff each term .

A career in several volumes
Article Abstract:
Jeremy Black is a history professor from Exeter University, England, and he is to publish the 30th work he has written on his own, in addition to a number of collaborations. He expects to finish a book annually, and makes time for writing by reducing attendance time at meetings, excluding those that are not outcome-oriented. He does not use notes to lecture. He sees writing as a way of educating himself as well as others. He initially writes his message and then adds examples and facts.
