Article Abstract:
The poor state of political debate in the United Kingdom is examined in the light of the standard of debate encountered at university debating societies. It is argued that the if the values, such as making an effort to listen to an opponents argument, that are imparted by such societies are lost, then true liberty of speech will also be lost.
