Warwick casts about for new audience

A public engagement project called Warwick I-Cast, launched by Warwick University, posts videos that feature research work of its academics on websites such as YouTube and Google Video. Warwick I-Cast thus raises public awareness of the projects undertaken in the university, its engagement with people and its positive impact on business and communities locally, nationally and internationally.

Casualties rise even before the RAE starts

University managers across the U.K. are refining their 2008 research assessment exercise (RAE) submissions, in what is widely seen as the most selective exercise ever. However, some lecturers feel that the exclusion from the RAE by universities seeking to maximize scores, could damage the career progression and reputation of several academics.
