Article Abstract:
The Times Higher Education Supplement (THES), first published in 1971, has undergone many changes in format and presentation. Many of the educational issues which were raised then have reappeared over the years and remain topical today. Student loan programmes, the scarcity of engineering students, and the use of the term 'professor' have all recurred repeatedly during THES's 25-year history.
