Marriage of best minds
Article Abstract:
There have been many changes in both the Civil Service and academia. They have been forced by the demands on services and improvements in technology, which has made provision more difficult, as in the National Health Service. There has recently been more exchange of ideas between public and private sectors, and initiatives like Next Steps to create agencies. Many academics have taken on posts in government service, and academics now undertake projects for Civil Service departments.

Meating of minds; the carnivore versus omnivore debate
Article Abstract:
Many people are giving up eating meat. The reasons given include wasteful use of resources, pollution and cruelty to animals. Many UK residents have become vegetarian, reduced the amount of meat they eat or given up red meat entirely. These viewpoints are found mostly amongst the young, female and affluent sectors of the population. Many observers feel these viewpoints may spread to the rest of the population.
