Metal detectorists join forces with archaeologists to reconstruct early life in UK
Article Abstract:
The Portable Antiquities Scheme, Lincolnshire, England, brings metal detectorists together with archeologists in order to discover more about the history of the UK particularly around the 870s. The two groups are collaborating to try to establish if the Vikings set up homes in the East of England. The detectorists are allowed to keep their finds after they have been studied. Prior to the initiative archaeologists and metal detectorists were often suspicious of each other motives.

eMerlin lays a pipeline to stars
Article Abstract:
The eMerlin network of radio telescopes in England is being enhanced through the installation of a fibre-optic network to connect the telescopes that make up the network. Once the installation and enhancements are complete, the network will give astronomers a view of the heavens that is 30 times more sensitive than before.
