Mounted police always get their 'radicals'
Article Abstract:
The University of Saskatchewan, Canada, was under surveillance by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police activities for approximately 50 years, and over 2000 pages of reports concerning political activists at the university have since been uncovered. The two university campuses under review are in the heart of wheat farming land, and are highly unlikely to have ever been the focus of dangerous political activity. No other universities in the country are known to be the subject of similar surveillance activities.

Article Abstract:
The number of Canadian native students enrolled in higher education in 1994-95 totalled 27,000, up from 8,000 in 1983-84. Canada's indigenous people have, historically, felt uncomfortable in what they saw as an irrelevant,European-based education system, but increasingly they are being attracted to higher education which is including native studies in its programmes.
