'Nightmare' EU fees recovery task ahead, Johnson warns
Article Abstract:
Boris Johnson, Shadow Minister for Higher Education, has warned that UK tax payers could end up paying the top-up fee bill for tens of thousands of European students when they are introduced in September 2006. When the fees are introduced, admission to British universities will be free for all UK and EU, with students paying for their education after they graduate and their salary has reached GBP15,000. Boris Johnson says the government has not thought about how payment would be collected after European students returned home after graduation.
