Kingston bursting, says QAA
Article Abstract:
Kingston University is close to bursting point, its courses are at full stretch, its facilities are overused and its plans to deal with student numbers through virtual learning are unrealistic, according to an audit report released by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). The university, which has experienced a 20% increase in student numbers over the past five years, does not contest the QAA's concerns regarding student numbers but argues that its plans to relieve pressure through the use of e-learning are realistic and viable.

Uni-Nanny is watching
Article Abstract:
Glamorgan University has developed the technology in use in the new Uni-Nanny electronic monitoring system under which students identify themselves at 'learning events' using individual computer chips in their key rings. Enthusiasts of the technology argue that efficient student monitoring is quickly proven to cut drop-out rates as it identifies those failing to engage in courses.
