Article Abstract:
The difficulties experienced by academic couples forced to spend most of their time away from their partner as a result of their job are examined. Due to the fact that it is unlikely that academics are likely to get jobs at the same institution or even at universities or colleges that are close to each other, academics often have to accept that they will have to spend most of their time away from their partner, putting great strain on their relationships and personal life, if they want to have a successful career.

Big Brother is the TV show that is the most damaging to British culture, receiving 219 out of almost 1,700 votes cast in a survey conducted by the Times Higher Educational Supplement. Pop Idol was second on the list with 109 votes, followed by the Jerry Springer Show with 108 votes and Temptation Island with 90 votes.
