Publisher's Prophecies: MECC Educational Software Available on TRS-80 Computers from Radio Shack
Article Abstract:
Minnesota Educational Computing Corporation (MECC) is now providing educational software for Radio Shack computers. Four packages are available for the TRS-80 Model III and Model 4: Basic Arithmetic, containing four elementary-level programs; Word Games with three student programs and one that lets the teacher create lists; Expeditions, three programs simulating three historical periods; and Puzzles and Posters, nine programs for teacher-designed puzzles and posters. Each package costs $44.95. Six packages are available for the Radio Shack Color Computer, each costing $34.95: Graphing, five mathematical programs; Music, which uses the computer's tone generation and graphics; Pre-Reading, six programs for young children; Earth Science, four programs to help students examine physical phenomena; Marketplace, for students to explore business economics; and Outdoor Biology, for students to play the role of animals to discover food relationships. A photograph of all the new packages is included.

Radio Shack Introduces: Free Computer-Education Program for Nation's Teachers

Tandy Corporation-Radio Shack has developed a free computer education program for teachers, called America's Educational Challenge. Radio Shack feels a responsibility to help teachers provide students with necessary technical skills for our technological society. After providing 125,000 teachers with free classes, a mailing of the teaching package was sent to 103,455 schools. Using Media: Dallas Baptist College Chooses Radio Shack Portable Computers
Article Abstract:
Dallas (Texas) Baptist College freshmen are using Radio Shack TRS-80 Model 100 portable computers for a user fee of $150 to $300. The college wanted a computer that could fit in a pocket or briefcase, after deciding to begin a program of promoting computer literacy. Students will be able to carry the computers to class and use them in their individual fields.
