Research by public could be 'unreliable'
Article Abstract:
The growing use of the lay public as researchers in investigations into issues that affect them could be generating research findings that are unreliable, delegates at the Social Research Association's annual conference were told. Social scientists at the conference were warned that the increase in so-called "participatory research" was following a flawed political agenda, however, those that use the technique argue that it is a less patronising approach to research and leads to a better understanding of the issues being investigated.
