Rise of the Anglo-Chinese
Article Abstract:
The Chinese developed links with English from the 19th century. They had previously used Malay for trade, and then developed links with California and the British Empire. Migrants have moved to the US from Taiwan, Hong Kong and mainland China. Some half Chinese living away from mainland China are fluent in English and demand for English is increasing in China. These Chinese can benefit from access to two civilizations and can act as channels for Chinese culture to become known in the English speaking world.

Chinese solution to a puzzle
Article Abstract:
The social and economic developments in China in the last decade have received scant attention in the British press, but its achievements are much greater than those in Russia. The contrast between the two nations is pronounced, with Communism in China continuing to thrive and the economy growing fast. However, while economic education in China has advanced, formal education lags behind the modern world and students, while possessing legendary numeracy skills, are often unprepared for the world of business.
