Rooms need more than a view
Article Abstract:
The quality of resource provision in universities and colleges is being assessed by the Quality Assessment Agency, including environmental and physical conditions. Some teachers complain about poor acoustics in some classrooms which can cause voice strain or prevent some students from hearing, and they criticize equipment that is provided without instructions or with parts missing. Teachers also complain of poor seating or distracting views from the window, poor heating, external noise and rooms with poor visability.

Do exams hinder student learning?
Article Abstract:
Mixed views continue to be expressed in the UK about the impact of examinations on student learning. Some observers believe that examinations frequently assess the wrong types of knowledge and capability, as well as preventing the constant development of course content. Others believe that assessment has positive effects, ensuring that students are made aware of their own progress and motivating them to participate in the learning process.
