Increase in mental illness on campus
Article Abstract:
Growing mental health problems suffered by students are a "matter of considerable concern", warranting dedicated student mental health services in some areas, according to "The Mental Health of Students in Higher Education" report produced by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. The report claims that a variety of factors, including the widening and expansion of participation in higher education, may be to blame for the growing number of students reportedly suffering from mental illnesses and that NHS mental health services are often inadequate for students as a result of long waiting times.
