Signal imperative to put funding back on track
Article Abstract:
Standards in higher education in the UK can only be improved if additional funding is provided to pay academics a decent wage. In real terms, academic salaries have risen by 5% over the past 20 years, compared to 45% in average earnings, leaving academics in an environment where the workload is growing, morale is low and evidence of a brain drain is becoming more apparent.
