Students buying fewer books, research shows
Article Abstract:
A reluctance amongst academics to ask cash-strapped students to pay for course materials is contributing to a decline in textbook buying, according to a survey conducted by the Publishers' Association. The research notes, however, that the main reason for the decline is that students would rather spend their money on entertainment and clothes.

Issues relating to the manner in which history textbooks convey the history of Europe are examined. It is argued that history textbooks should tell the truth about the violent past of Europe so that children can understand the truth, appreciate the current world conflicts and understand European reactions to them.
