Swash and buckle of an officer and a historian
Article Abstract:
Historian Brigadier Richard Holmes discusses his life and work as both a soldier and an historian and looks at how the former has influenced the latter. Holmes believes that he has got better as a presenter of historical programmes on the television, but he remains most proud of his military connections, stating that the thing that means the most to him is the respect of the people who were actually taking part in the events that he only talks about.
