Virgin Unite, charitable arm of Virgin, entered a partnership with the Community and Individual Development Association (Cida) and in 2005 opened a School of Entrepreneurship in South Africa with the aim of creating an alternative pah to a business degree by providing students with the chance to expand entrepreneurial skills. The school will focus on ensuring that students are mentored by successful entrepreneurs and get hands-on learning.

Plan to target poorer pupils
Article Abstract:
An initiative started in 2001 allows talented young people from deprived suburbs in Paris to enrol on a special programme at the Intitute for Political Studies (Sciences Po). Students receive the same teaching and qualifications as the other students at Sciences Po but take an oral exam to gain entry instead of a written exam and prepare for this free of charge compared with the expensive preparation course for the written exam.
