Telford: keep up chat, Kat
Article Abstract:
Mandy Telford has warned Kat Fletcher, her successor as president of the National Union of Students (NUS), that it would be a mistake for the NUS to walk away from negotiations with the government despite frustrations over the issue of tuition fees. Fletcher won the election for the position of NUS president on the back of a platform of direct action against fees but Telford warns that while demonstrations are a valuable tool, discussions with your opponents are also valuable.

The survey also revealed that two-thirds of vice-chancellors stated that they had to offer numeracy classes in order to bring students up to the necessary standards.
