Th building of a time machine
Article Abstract:
An attempt to build the Difference Engine No 2 from designs created by Mathematician Charles Babbage in the late 1840s was undertaken in the 1980s. The project has had support from the computer industry. The machine required 8,000 parts. Some of the designs had to be redrawn to enable manufacturing of parts to take place. The first part of the engine took four years to complete. The machine is due to be finished in 2000, with the completion of the printer. It will be on show in the Science Museum, London, England.
