The Computer Highway
Article Abstract:
Information technology may provide the solutions to the problems created by the consolidated school district. When schools consolidated, classrooms became larger and teachers were unable to provide the individualized attention needed by many students. The new technologies can provide individually tailored learning experiences in the form of computer, videodisc and data base activities. In addition, students can have the freedom of choosing the form of education which best suits them, whether it is a teacher lecture or a home terminal. While small school systems could not afford expensive libraries and science laboratories, or specialized teachers, the consolidated system can afford to provide its students access to the best education through information technology.
