The job's the thing
Article Abstract:
Figures published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency reveal that 12% of Britain's full-time undergraduate students were taking courses in business and administrative studies in 1994. Engineering and technology courses had the second highest number of full-time first-degree students, accounting for 10.2% of the total. Excluding education degrees, engineering and technology accounted for the highest proportion of full-time postgraduate students. However a high proportion of postgraduate students, particularly part-timers, were taking a second degree in business and administrative studies.

Labour's red, red rose
Article Abstract:
Historian and Labour Minister Patricia Hollis has written a biography of the former Labour Member of Parliament (MP) Jennie Lee, in a book entitled Jennie Lee: A Life. Lee became a MP in the UK Parliament in 1929 when she was just 24 years old. Lee's most significant accomplishment was to introduce the concept of the Open University which was launched in 1971. Lee had a very strong political will and she felt that it was vital to tackle the problem of class before moving on to other social problems. Hollis found she admired Lee but at times found her infuriating. Lee died in 1988.
