Article Abstract:
An overview of the for-profit university sector in the United States in the light of the recent US Education Department report that criticised the University of Phoenix, the largest for-profit university in the US. Apollo Group, parent company of the University of Phoenix, has contested the report, claiming that it is misleading and inaccurate.

An analysis of why up to 50% of black male social scientists may have left the UK for positions at universities in the US. It is argued that there is a singular lack of interest in the study of black communities and their histories at institutions in the UK.
