US dominates worldwide league tables

Universities in the United States have dominated the first global ranking of universities, taking seven of the top 10 spots. Harvard University took the top place, followed by the University of California, Berkeley, in second and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Third. Oxford and Cambridge Universities came fifth and sixth respectively, emerging as the highest ranked non-US institutions.

Harvard repeats double whammy

An analysis of tables listing the world's top 100 universities in the fields of social sciences and art and humanities. Harvard University was the leading university in the social sciences sector, followed by the London School of Economics and Oxford University, while in the arts and humanities field Harvard was again top, followed by Oxford University and Cambridge University.
