Article Abstract:
Multimedia may be used in education, as its interactive mix of video text, sound and images could be used as a teaching tool. It is thought that multimedia will be initially used in the home followed by business and education. Commodore and Philips have developed systems for home use as interactive televisions. Intel Corporation and Apple Macintosh are other names interested in developing these systems.

Virtual libraries; how the Bodleian has managed to increase access to remote databases
Article Abstract:
Libraries such as the Bodleian in Oxford are now linked to multitudes of overseas libraries via a network named JANET (Joint Academic Network.) A larger system originated in the US called Internet, and it is now a huge international network.

Setting sail in virtual waters
Article Abstract:
The University of Auckland's Yacht Research Unit is making use of computer simulations to test their yacht designs in a variety of conditions. The unit has also developed a program to help sailors make navigational decisions.
