We can't peer into souls but we can open minds
Article Abstract:
The vice-chancellor of Leeds Metropolitan University (LMU), argues, in the light of the London terrorist bombings in which it is believed one of the bombers was an ex-LMU student, that it is not possible for universities to assess whether somebody will become a terrorist. However, it is contended that it is possible for universities to instill in individuals the sort of critical thinking skills that will help them resist falling under the malign influence of cults or other dangerous groups.

...think students need to learn about ethics
Article Abstract:
All students should learn about ethics while they are at university, both through the curriculum and through extracurricular activities, in order to help them in both their public and private lives. It is argued that, if they do their job properly, universities can help students develop their character, enabling them to take on the ethical challenges and pressures they will face later in life.
