What the Muslims can learn from Jews
Article Abstract:
A comparative analysis of the Jewish migrants that came to the United Kingdom in the early part of the 20th century, the current growing Muslim community in the country and what the latter can learn from the experiences of the former. It is suggested that while the situations of the Jews and the Muslims are different, there are enough similarities to hope that room for manoeuvre can be found in the Muslim community between national identity and diasporic aspirations so that Muslim life will, like Jewish life, be able to flourish in harmony in the UK.

Face has changed, but fear remains
Article Abstract:
As the war on terrorism by Western countries intensifies, Muslims are increasingly becoming the target of suspicion in the United Kingdom, a situation that bears striking similarities to the experiences of immigrant Jewish people in the early part of the 20th century. It is argued that the war on terrorism has focused an uncomfortable light on the Muslim population of the UK, and that a lesson can be learned from the experiences of Jews in the early 20th century so that we do not fall into the same traps and demonise an entire community.

A nation tenderly traces the scars that never fade
Article Abstract:
An overview of the British coverage of the Holocaust Memorial Day services, which took place on 27 January 2005, and the criticisms that some have put forward of this coverage. While some argue that the British government is hypocritical to on the one hand mark Holocaust Memorial Day and on the other hand maintain weapons of mass destruction and support often despicable regimes, it is contended that to focus on this misses the point of the day.
