...think humanities journals are often irrelevant
Article Abstract:
Academic journals in the humanities should meet the same level of performance standards that they expect their authors to reach, following the example of journals in the biosciences field and offering clear objectives for speed and quality of reviewing, for the overall delay in publication and for the nature of the editorial decision-making process. It is contended that very few journals in the humanities field do meet the same level of performance standards as their counterparts in other fields and, as a result of this, are therefore often irrelevant.
