...think counselling does not make students into victims
Article Abstract:
The head of student counselling service, Royal Holloway, University of London, responds to recent criticism of student counselling services which claims that they only serve to perpetuate a "victim culture" amongst students. He argues that academics appreciate the help they offer as they assist many student who would otherwise drop out, and suggests that the majority of people that have their initial problems solved by the counselling services do not return in the future, disproving the idea that counselling makes students dependent on the help of others to solve all their problems.

Article Abstract:

As a result of these issues, it is questionable whether prison is actually the best way of treating the majority of these people.
