As DVD players appear, progressive scanning gains attention
Article Abstract:
An understanding of progressive scanning is required to completely appreciate the potential benefits offered by DVD technology. Features related to progressive scanning may play a significant role in the market for DVD video players. For example, 480-line progressive (480p) scanning provides twice as many scan lines as 480-line interlaced (480i) scanning, and therefore offers a sharper picture. This distinction between 480p and 480i is important when considering DVDs.
