New lines of consumer electronics batteries are introduced by manufacturers into the market. Among the new products are Panasonic's Type-1 batteries, JBRO Batteries' Telepower XL Nickel Metal Hydride AA batteries, GE/Sanyo's new two- and four-pack combinations of high-capacity alkaline battery and Duracell's new line of Ultra photo lithium batteries. Global demand of batteries is projected to grow by 8% annually to $55 mil by the year 2002.
